Many personal injury firms are run by paralegals. The attorneys make money by volume of cases. The attorney has little involvement with the client or the case. Such attorneys rarely, if ever, go to trial. When they do go to trial, they are often ill-equipped. Insurance companies and large corporations take advantage of such attorneys and their clients.

McKINLEY & SMITH is different. We do not accept a case unless we are convinced our client has been wronged and needs an advocate to secure a good recovery. An attorney, not a paralegal, makes all key decisions. We are aggressive advocates, but we pride ourselves in knowing and following the rules.

McKINLEY & SMITH will inform clients of the risks involved in their case and will make recommendations for settlement or trial, as appropriate.

The primary goal of the personal injury system is to compensate for injuries caused by the wrongful conduct of others. Success in punishing a defendant in a personal injury action is very rare. Punishment is usually not a proper motivating factor. Our goal is fair compensation and we will discuss with the client what this means in each case.
